| 中文描述 | 肉毒桿菌中毒是由於食入CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM所產生的外毒素所造成。C型和D型毒素可以在屍體中發現，而C型毒素則是引起犬隻肉毒桿菌中毒的原因。疾病的嚴重性隨著食入不同的毒素而有所不同。呈現進展性、對稱性、全身性、下行神經元功能障礙，同時影響腦神經和脊神經。診斷上可利用毒素中和測試檢測C型毒素是否存在被感染狗的血清或糞便和其臨床症狀。潰瘍性結膜炎和結膜炎可能繼發。 |

| 英文描述 | Botulism is caused by the ingestion of exotoxins produced by CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM. Toxin types C and D are found in carrion and type C is responsible for cases of botulism documented in dogs. Severity of disease varies with the amount of toxin ingested. Presents as a progressive, symmetric, generalized, lower motor neuron dysfunction affecting both cranial and spinal nerves. Dx is by identifying Type C toxin in the serum or feces of affected dogs by toxin neutralization tests in association with clinical signs. Ulcerative keratitis and conjunctivitis may develop secondarily. |
